Eden Lassie - Buoy 1 - Environmental (near realtime)

This resource collects time series water physicochemical In-situ parameter readings, water (current) flow velocity and direction, Nitrogen and Carbon compounds and weather conditions every ten minutes. Quality control codes have been introduced to the data to assist with interpretation of the data.

Equipment is housed in a large yellow floating Buoy, anchored in position within the tidal zone in Eden Lassie Creek upstream of the discharge for De Costa Aquaculture property (in Sandfly Creek) approximately 5.0km from the mouth of the Eden Lassie Creek, Proserpine at Lat-20.1845 Long 148.411 Datum GDA.

Water column depth at this position is approximately 5.0 meters.

A Trios ""Opus"" spectrophotometer with 10 mm optical path, submerged at 1 meter below the surface, measures Nitrogen and Carbon compounds, such as:

  • Nitrate NO3-N,
  • CODeq,
  • BODeq,
  • DOCeq,
  • TOCeq,
  • TSSeq,
  • KHP,
  • SAC254,
  • COD-SACeq,
  • BOD-SACeq.

Mounted on the vertical spar on the outside of the buoy, the Gill Maximet Compact Weather Station GMX240 measures Ambient Air conditions such as;

  • Gill_Ws_Mean
  • Gill_Wd_MeanUnitVector
  • Gill_Wd_StdDev
  • Gill_WindSpd_Max
  • Gill_Temperature_Avg
  • Gill_RH
  • Gill_Pressure
  • Gill_Rain_mm_Tot
  • Gill_TotalRain_mm
  • Gill_DewPoint_Avg
  • Gill_SRad_Avg
  • Gill_SunHours_Avg
  • Gill_Latitude
  • Gill_Longitude
