Olive husk volumes have been estimated by using a conversion factor on the amounts of olives produced that is reported in the 2015-16 SA2 data. Olive husk volumes can vary, in Australia most olive are milled using a 2 phase process which has a range of 75 – 83% husk production at 60 – 70% moisture cited in the literature. For this data we have used a conversion factor of 75% for wet weight of olive husk and further converted this figure by 65% to account for moisture to give a olive husk dry weight.
Residue volumes that are actually produced may vary from what is reported. However, data should give an indication of what is available at each location
