Pome Fruit residue volumes have been estimated by using a conversion factor for paddock losses on the amounts of Pome Fruit produced that is reported in the 2015-16 SA2 data. Individual loss percentages were sourced from literature and this was used with their production to generate loss volumes. The grower loss estimate used was 15% adapted from losses reported in a survey of food waste (Ghosh 2016). Residue volumes that are actually produced may vary from what is reported. However, data should give an indication of what is available at each location. References:
