Watercourse identification map - downstream...
The administrative demarcation point between where water is managed under the Water Act 2000 or the Coastal Protection and Management Act 1995. Nominally the point to which the high spring tide ordinarily flows and reflows in the watercourse, whether due to a natural cause or an artificial barrier. Approvals/authorisations may be required under the Water Act 2000 for activities that propose to take or interfere with water in a watercourse upstream of a downstream limit. The Act does not apply to tidal streams or estuaries, downstream of the marked downstream limit, which are managed under the Coastal Protection and Management Act 1995.
