Note: Plotted values are differences from the 2005 forest area (108.1 million hectares), which is set as zero.

Figures have been provided by the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resources Economics and Sciences (Australian Government Department of Agriculture and Water Resources) - using data from the National Inventory Report, 2012 published by the Australian Government Department of the Environment (now the Australian Government Department of the Environment and Energy).

This data was used by the Department of Environment and Energy to produce Figure BIO12 in the Biodiversity theme of Australia State of the Environment 2016, available at https://soe.environment.gov.au/theme/biodiversity/topic/2016/terrestrial-ecosystems-and-communities#biodiversity-figure-12
