Trigger map for strategic cropping land in Queensland v2.0

Abstract

This dataset and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied.

This is the electronic map called 'Trigger Map for Strategic Cropping Land in Queensland' under Section 25 of the Strategic Cropping Land Act 2011. This trigger map indicates the location of potential strategic cropping land (SCL) in Queensland. It was prepared using Class A Agricultural Land and Versatile Cropping Land data and 1999 Queensland Land Use Mapping Program (QLUMP) data identified as production from agriculture or plantations. Areas covered by remnant vegetation shown in version 6.0 remnant regional ecosystem mapping were removed. Protected areas, as represented by National Parks, State Forests, Timber Reserves and Forest Reserves, shown in the DNRM Digital Cadastral Data Base (DCDB) were removed. Urban areas, defined as urban footprints in the Far North Queensland, South East Queensland, Mackay Isaac and Whitsunday, and the Wide Bay Burnett regional plans or within 20 metres of and including groups of 20 or more cadastral parcels with areas less than one hectare mapped as residential in the QLUMP dataset, were removed. The trigger map extent is limited to those areas within the five SCL zones (refer Queensland SCL Zones - Version 1.0 map). Important Note: On-ground assessment under the Strategic Cropping Land Act 2011 is required to validate the land as SCL or decided on-SCL.

Purpose

This dataset has been created to support the SCL policy of the State of Queensland.
