The PV Pacific Sun is a platform of the Enhancement of Measurements on Ships of Opportunity (SOOP) facility. The vessel is a holiday class cruise ship (callsign 9HA2479), 223 m length (beam 28 m, draught - 7.5 m). It performs year-round cruises from Sydney to the South Pacific and tropical North Queensland. Bulk SST is measured by SBE48 hull contact sensor. The sensor is installed in the engine compartment at the depth of 3 meters. SST data (along with meteorological data from ship AWS) are instantaneous, collected every 1 hours. The data are quality controlled by the Bureau of Meteorology. The daily data files are available from eMII shortly after 0000 UTC.
