Abstract

This dataset and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied.

Defines the area in the Pedirka Basin in which coal seams have been intersected during mineral/petroleum exploration drilling.

Purpose

Used to define the area within the Pedirka Basin in which coal occurrence is most probable.

Dataset History

The underlying data used to define the coal occurrence polygon was sourced from open file oil/gas/mineral exploration well completion and company reports. These are publically available in the Northern Territory through the Department of Mines and Energy - Northern Territory Geological Survey (http://www.nt.gov.au/d/Minerals_Energy/Geoscience) and the South Australian Resource Information Geoserver (SARIG), (http://www.minerals.statedevelopment.sa.gov.au/online_tools/free_data_delivery_and_publication_downloads/sarig).
