A collation of environmental datasets used in developing and testing forecast models of water temperatures in Port Phillip Bay.

Updated 24/06/2017

The improvement of forecasting water temperature in a coastal embayment through the assimilation of satellite sea surface temperature (SST) was investigated. Port Phillip Bay in southeastern Australia was used as a case study, where temperature forecasts could be compared against in situ temperature measurements. Meteorological data, riverine data, tidal data, bathymetry, water quality data and satellite observations for Port Phillip Bay were required for the study. This resource provides details of the datasets that were generously made available by various government agencies for use in this study.
