The Building Footprint dataset forms part of the Launceston City Council Detail Survey Database (LCC DSDB). The purpose of this dataset is to give a general indication of building locations within the urban areas of the Launceston municipality. The data has been compiled over a number of years using mainly hand digitised 1:500 Detail Survey sheets drawn from field survey and subsequent field survey work.

Other datasets included in the LCC DSDB are drainage, fences, pavement, sewer lines, sewer points, stormwater lines, stormwater points, water lines and water points.
