Abstract

The dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from multiple source datasets. The source datasets are identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.

The dataset consists of following shapefiles and their associated spreadsheets:

Bores_outside_HUN-GWZoPHC.shp: consists of all groundwater bores located within the zone of potential hydraulic change (ZoPHC), but located outside the groundwater zone of potential hydraulic change (GWZoPHC).

Groundwater_Elements.shp: consists of all groundwater bores located within the zone of potential hydraulic change (ZoPHC) including the bores located within the mine pits as well as bores located in the various percent quantiles. The shapefiles also includes the information related to groundwater management and water sources they are located in.

Surfacewater_Elements.shp:consists of all surface water extraction points located within the zone of potential hydraulic change (ZoPHC). The shapefiles also includes the information related to groundwater management and water sources they are located in.

WSPGWSources_Jan2017_intersecting_HUNZoPHC.shp: shapefiles representing the management and water source areas intersecting the Hunter subregion.

Dataset History

This dataset consists of economic elements extracted from the public version of the Hunter Assets Database and intersecting the zone of potential hydraulic changes for the Hunter subregion. The shapefiles were created after created a set of queries defined in ARCGIS software for shapefile datasets in the GIS folder of the Assets database. As part of the developing the queries, the updated zone of potential hydraulic changes shapefile along with the updated groundwater zone of potential hydraulic changes were considered.

The groundwater management areas intersecting the zone of potential hydraulic change were extracted from the Management zones dataset supplied by NSW Department of Primary Industries - Water in February 2017 and a shapefile was created by developing a query in the ARCGIS software.
