This record describes the datasets from Courageous Cruise 004, the third in a series of acoustic and trawl surveys for Jack mackerel (Trachurus declivis) and other demersal and pelagic fish. The survey was conducted between November and December 1975 in waters off the New South Wales coast, Bass Strait, the west and east coasts of Tasmania. Species recorded in trawls included jack mackerel, snot-gall trevalla, and small lantern fish.
