Council and the NSW DPI&E undertake monthly water quality sampling to provide estuary health information, reported annually through Council's Lake Ecosystem Health Scorecards.

Our Freshwater Catchment Ecosystem Health data also provide a snapshot on the freshwater catchment waterway health of Lake Macquarie’s main catchments.

Outcomes, from both these water quality assessment programs, are combined with the Lake Macquarie Estuary Response Model to provide a basis for effective environmental management.
