DRAFT - Special species timber - Myrtle

Created 12/10/2024

Updated 12/10/2024

This layer (Myrtle) is a statewide mapping layer produced by the Department of State Growth as part of the implementation of the Tasmanian Special Species Management Plan 2017. This layer represents an indication of areas likely to contain myrtle trees. It has been created by selecting a subset of TASVEG categories whose floristic descriptions include myrtle as either the dominant or a component species. The layer is intended for use in planning for harvest of special species timbers and is indicative only. It does not provide information on land tenure, forest age or suitability of trees for special species timber products. Special species timber harvesting should only occur on appropriate land tenures with landowner permission, and follow proper planning and regulatory processes as described in the Tasmanian Special Species Management Plan 2017.
