Bureau of Meteorology's Metropolitan areas include regions for Road Weather Alerts, Cell Based Thunderstorm Warnings and Other Forecast Areas (eg Alpine, National Parks).

The boundaries contain codes that can be linked to the GFE product suite of forecasts and warnings that are issued by the Bureau of Meteorology when required.
