This classification of aquatic ecosystems was developed for the Commonwealth Environmental Water Office, Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment and Murray-Darling Basin Authority to support the management of environmental water in the Murray-Darling Basin.Wetlands_ANAEv3 is from the 2021 revision of the Murray-Darling Basin ANAE data set. It is a comprehensive compilation of aquatic ecosystem polygon mapping for the Murray-Darling Basin using the best available jurisdiction mapping (SA, Vic, QLD, NSW, ACT), the Geofabric v3, the MDBA Wetlands GIS of the Murray-Darling Basin Series 2.0, and detailed mapping from the Namoi Catchment Management Authority, Murrumbidgee Catchment Management Authority, and Murray Wetlands Working Group. Source data sets are listed in the DataSources table in the MDB_ANAE geodatabase. Mapping sources range in scale from 1:5,000 to 1:250,000.The interim Australian National Aquatic Ecosystem (ANAE) classification framework has been applied to all wetland polygons varying by system type (lacustrine, palustrine, riverine, estuarine and floodplain). Individual attribute values and final wetland type assignment are included in the attribute data table.
