The Australian Government's National Environmental Science Program (NESP)Threatened Species Recovery (TSR) Hub commenced in 2015. Nearly 150 research projects, spanning the Australian continent and surrounding islands, were conducted within six years of the TSR Hub. This dataset has the spatial distribution of TSR Hub projects occurring in Australia. Investigators can search for threatened species research projects within their interested areas; identify how many TSR Hub projects focus on particular threatened plants, animals, or processes; and learn more about each individual project with their associated weblinks. The spatial data for this dataset were contributed by project team researchers from the TSR Hub. The polygons are indicative of the area where the research projects occurred or indicative of the landscape scope of the research agenda. For example, research that might have multiple sites within a national park will have the whole national park mapped. Similarly, research at particular location on Indigenous lands will have the full Indigenous Protected Areas mapped. Research projects that were national in scope would have the full Australian continent and Tasmanian Island mapped.Program IDs (PIDs) are related to the research themes (Theme 1 to 8) as P1 to P8 in the dataset. Each research project has a unique ID ex. TSR_1_1_1. MORKs (Management Oriented Research Keywords) assigned to each project were based on relevance to the research and simplified to ensure similar words were captured as the same term (e.g., cats and feral cats were simplified to cat). There is a maximum of six key words per research project. The associated weblinks will direct you to the relevant TSR Hub research page. If a project does not have its own webpage, the weblink will direct you to the head project page. Search functions will be developed to interrogate the projects by entering key terms, areas, or title key words in future.
