Drone-based tree hollow surveys in an Australian tropical savanna

Created 20/01/2025

Updated 07/03/2025

Records of tree hollows observed via drone- and ground- based surveys in a tropical savanna near Darwin, Australia. Data was collected to trial the use of drones to count and assess tree hollow accessibility. Includes information on tree species and diameter at breast height, as well as hollows that are 'blind' or blocked by termite mound material. Hollows are categorised by entrance diameter size (5-10 cm, 10-20 cm and >20 cm) and location on tree trunk or branch.
