HPAI Wild Species Risk Layers

Created 11/03/2025

Updated 11/03/2025

A collection of spatial layers created in response to the risk posed by High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) to wild animal populations in Tasmania. These layers were created in 2024 prior to any known incursion of HPAI and show the broad habitat range and priority locations for native species considered most at risk to HPAI. As accurate habitat ranges were not available for most species, generalised ranges were defined using a 'fishnet' style hexagon grid covering all of mainland Tasmania and offshore islands. Each hexagon covers an area of 25 square kilometres.
