Created 12/10/2024

Updated 12/10/2024

"Non-Production Forest" is a layer determined by using Sustainable Timber Tasmania's MDC to distinguishes areas not suitable for wood production purposes (such as steep slopes, non-forest vegetation, unharvestable etc.) from those areas managed as production or informal reserves.

Non-production forest areas have been identified by planners and are refined during ongoing operational planning processes across all land managed by Sustainable Timber Tasmania including all Permanent Timber Production Zone (PTPZ) land, some areas of crown land, joint ventures and leases on private land.

Sustainable Timber Tasmania undertakes operational, tactical and strategic planning in the context of non-production forest areas and informal reserves on the land that it manages.
