Updated 13/01/2025

This dataset comprises the current meter data collected from Indian Ocean off Ningaloo Reef in northern WA during August 1994-June 1996. The data were collected via the WOCE Indian Ocean Current Meter Array 6 (ICM6), designed to estimate the volume transport of the Leeuwin Current near 22 deg S. The array crossed depths from approximately 250m on the continental shelf to 3050m. The array was deployed during Franklin voyage FR 09/94 and recovered during during Franklin voyages FR 06/96 and FR 07/96. There are 6 moorings with 15 current meters represented in this dataset. Parameters typically recorded in current meter data comprise east-west and north-south velocity components, water temperature, pressure, and salinity at a nominal depth for each current meter. The data have been processed and are archived as part of the holdings of the CMR Data Centre in Hobart.
