This dataset is based on a series of Common Nature Conservation Classification System (CNCCS) Ecological Corridor Mapping Projects, the cumulation of which is documented here: MBRC Planning Scheme 2016 I Background Studies I  Ecological Corridors. Ecological corridors are important to protect ecological values and functions at a regional scale as well as provide pathways for day to day movement of fauna in search of food, mates, nesting opportunities and dispersal. Corridors are assigned a priority and mapped with associated buffer distances necessary to reduce edge effects, namely: Priority 1 - 350mPriority 2 - 200mPriority 3 - 100m These corridors form the basis of MBRC Planning Scheme Map: Overlay Map - Environmental Offset Receiving Areas and indicate where the efforts to deliver the region’s higher order ecological corridor network is required. This includes retention of native vegetation, provision of safe, unimpeded, convenient and ongoing wildlife movement, and rehabilitation, including through environmental offset delivery. Delivery of the higher order ecological corridor network, together with retention of native vegetation  elsewhere in the landscape will contribute to the avoidance of the creation of fragmented and isolated patches of native vegetation.
