Strengthening the Oversight of workplace child abuse allegations A Special Report to Parliament February 2016

Created 07/06/2025

Updated 07/06/2025

The NSW Ombudsman’s reportable conduct jurisdiction commenced over 16 years ago, when a scheme was established for independent oversight of the handling of child abuse and neglect allegations against the employees of thousands of government and non-government agencies. The primary purpose of this report is to bring to Parliament’s attention the practical implications of advice we received from the Solicitor General which substantially expands the number and type of agencies and individuals now deemed to fall within our reportable conduct jurisdiction.
