This statement assesses the environmental impacts of the proposed Coolac Bypass which involves the construction of a dual carriageway and associated bridges over the study areas length from approximately chainage 77.7 kilometres south of Yass to chainage 89.2 kilometres south of Yass. The balance of the works would involve upgrading the existing northbound carriageway just south of Muttama Creek to Five mile Creek. The effects of the proposal on all aspects on the environment were carefully assessed focussing on geology, landforms and soils, impacts on minerals, flora and fauna, hydrology and flooding, water quality, Aboriginal archaeology, socio-economic environment, agriculture, air quality European heritage, noise and vibration, statutory considerations, landscape and visual impact.
