Nutrient capital and trace element composition of mangrove forests and soils, Sawi Bay, Thailand

Created 24/06/2017

Updated 09/10/2017

Measurements of nutrient partitioning, storage and flux in differently aged (3, 5 and 25 years) mangrove forests and soils of Rhizophora apiculata in Sawi Bay, southern Thailand.

Samples were taken during the wet (October 1999) and dry (April 1999, 2000) monsoon seasons.

Elemental analysis was carried out on 3 trees cut from each site: green leaves, live branches, stem and prop roots were each weighed. Soils and fine roots below ground had wet and dry weights measured. Soil and tree samples were further analysed for C, N, Fe, Mn, S, Na, Mg, K, Ca, P, Zn, Cr, Ni, Cu, Co, Pb, Mo, Cd, Hg and As.
