Pilbara Environmental Offsets Fund (PEOF) projects are designed to offset the significant residual impacts of mining that are conditioned under state Ministerial Statements and commonwealth Decision Notices. This dataset includes approved PEOF project area boundaries in the Pilbara IBRA region. The Minister for Environment decides which projects are invested in from the Fund. Once projects are approved for funding by the Minister, the department executes a funding agreement with the project deliverer and the project commences. The boundary of an on-ground project is defined in the projects detailed project plan using a geographical information system (GIS). This is either developed internally by a GIS spatial analyst or provided by the project proponent, and the data is owned by DWER.
