Red Crab Migration Infrastructure - Crab Crossings & Gates – 2012

ARCHIVED

Created 13/01/2025

Updated 13/01/2025

Information on the location of red crab crossing grids and migration gates were provided to Geoscience Australia by Christmas Island National Park in July 2012 as shapefiles. The only changes made to the data were to move eight grid points to line up with the orthophotography. For these edited points, the ‘x’ and ‘y’ fields were updated using the Field Calculator in Quantum GIS. Attributes include; road name, fence name, type of infrastructure and x and y coordinates. Accuracy is high as the layer was based on the 2011 orthophotography. Disclaimer
