This record describes Nutrient data collected from the Marine National Facility (MNF) RV Investigator voyage IN2018_V04, titled: "Constraining external iron inputs and cycling in the southern extension of the East Australian Current." The voyage took place between September 11 and October 8, 2018, departing Hobart (TAS) and returning to Hobart.
The primary objective of the voyage was to characterize the sources and biogeochemical cycling of iron and associated nutrients and their impact on productivity from east of mainland Australia to south of Tasmania. Analysed salinity, oxygen and nutrient samples from the CTD, TMR and experimental samples are described in the IN2018_V04 Hydrology metadata record (see link below).
This metadata record pertains to the instrument used to analyse seawater nutrients underway (AA100). Nitrate as NOx (NO3 + NO2) and Phosphate were analysed on the instrument.
The final dataset includes latitude, longitude, UTC time stamps, NOx (nitrate + nitrite in µM), phosphate (PO4 in µM) and analysis file. The analysis file for each data point is included if correcting to the reference material used for each analysis is required. The measurements for the reference material are provided in appendix 6.2. Time stamps in the .csv data file are given in a written format set to UTC. In the NetCDF file, the time stamps are provided as seconds since the start of 2018, eg 01/01/2018 00:00:00.
This dataset has been archived at the CSIRO O&A Information and Data Centre (IDC) in Hobart. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the Voyage Report and Data Processing Report (see links below).
