Satellite Himawari-8 Visible (Greyscale) 2km resolution - images, AUSTRALIA, latest 24 hours

Created 07/10/2024

Updated 07/10/2024

Greyscale images based on one single visible wavelength [Band 3: red] (in comparison to the true colour image which combines Bands 12, and 3: red, green and blue). These images will appear black in regions of no sunlight, i.e. night-time.

The data/image is the bidirectional reflectance factor observed by the Advanced Himawari Imager at Band 3 (0.63- 0.66 micrometres).

Data are sourced from the Japan Meteorological Agency's geostationary satellite, and the Bureau processes the data (including altering the projection to equirectangular).

JMA imagery is available from: http://www.jma.go.jp/en/gms/index.html?area=6&element=1&time= or http://www.jma.go.jp/en/gms/smallc.html?area=6&element=1&time=
