The Himawari-8 hotspot video represents 12 hours of observations comparing existing MODIS data with the new Himawari-8 data. A small fire starts at 9.30am. H8 catches the ignition as it provides 10 minute update intervals. MODIS sees the fire during its first pass at 10.30am. H8 continues to provide 10minute updates revealing the fires direction and speed. MODIS provides no further data until its second pass at 4.30pm.
