This record is an overview entry for biological data collected on Soela cruise SO 3/81. This cruise took place in the Great Australian Bight during 23 July - 22 August 1981, under the leadership of John Stevens. Biological data collected on this cruise include EK 50 acoustic data of fish abundance. 136 species of fish, 31 elasmobranchs, and 105 teleosts from demersal trawls. This included 7 new species records for South Australia. Species composition, abundance and length frequency data for pelagic and demersal species. Length, weight, gonad stage and stomach fullness for T. declivis (486), S. neopilchardus (200), and T. mccullochi (50) together with very limited numbers of S. australasicus, Caranx georgianus, Etrumeus jacksoniensis and Engraulis australis. Otoliths, gonads and stomachs were also retained. Feeding data for two pelagic species, T. declivis and S. neopilchardus. Plankton biomass data. Biological data on species from the following elasmobranch families; Carcharhinidae, Sphyrnidae, Squalidae, Scyliorhinidae, Triakidae, Pristiophoridae and Urolophidae. Biological data on Ommastrephes bartrami (2), Nototodarus gouldi (150) and Sepioteuthis australis (43).
