This data was collected on Research Vessel Southern Surveyor, cruise SS 01/95. The voyage departed Hobart, Tasmania on the 14th of January, 1995 and returned to Hobart, Tasmania on the 12th of February, 1995. Samples were collected from 43 stations in order to characterise the optical properties of the Southern Ocean, south and west of Tasmania. Parameters measured include the phytoplankton pigment concentration and composition. The data can be used for Ocean Colour sensor validation.
