This dataset is a digital polygon coverage detailing places of potential National Estate significance for old growth forest. The old-growth polygons are coded with a unique number and the relevant National Estate values and criteria.
OGA298 is a State-wide coverage map of high quality old-growth forests of national estate significance in dry, wet and subalpine eucalypts communities and non-eucalypt communities.
All sites in oga298 are classified acoording to National Estate criterion A2: Importance in maintaining existing processes or natural systems at the regional or national scale.
OGB198 is a State-wide coverage map of old-growth forests communities that are rare or uncommon.
All sites in ogb198 are classified acoording to National Estate criterion B1: Importance for rare, endangered or uncommon flora, fauna, communities, ecosystems, natural landscapes or phenomena, or as wilderness.
This is an archived dataset jointly owned by the Commonwealth and the Tasmanian Governments under the Tasmania-Commonwealth Regional Forest Agreement (RFA) data agreement of 8th November 1997.This data is restricted because it is considered sensitive by one or other data owners. It is available to third parties under written license agreement by both the Commonwealth and Tasmanian governments on a case by case basis.
