The distributions at sea of the eight seabird species that breed on Christmas Island were documented during four surveys in the eastern Indian Ocean from 1987 to 1996. These were Common Noddies, Brown Boobies, Red-footed Boobies, Abbott's Boobies, White-tailed Tropicbirds, Red-tailed Tropicbirds, Great Fridgatebirds and Christmas Fridgatebirds.
