Updated 07/10/2024

Mean annual number of thunder days across Australia. The grids show the thunder-day values across Australia in the form of two-dimensional array data. The mean data are based on the ten year period 1990-99.
The annual average thunder-day map is based on observed thunderstorm activity at about 300 weather stations (shown in the station map on http://www.bom.gov.au/jsp/ncc/climate_averages/thunder-lightning/IDCthlightgrids.jsp ), over a ten year year period (1990-1999).
