A dataset depicting the spatial extent and location of the whale protection area in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park (GBRMP), located off the coast of Queensland, Australia. The dataset was created by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) in 2007 based on descriptions in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Regulations 2019 and is intended to act as a tool to indicate the location and spatial extent of the whale protection area for use by vessel and aircraft operators. For further information, refer to Schedule 4 of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Regulations 2019. Please note, sufficient data to determine mean low water is not available, therefore the coastal boundary lines follow the coastlines as defined by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority Mainland and Islands dataset.
