Xenohalacarus longirostris n. sp., (Acari: Halacaridae: Lohmannellinae), a new genus and species of marine mite from Chilcott Islet in the Coral Sea

A new genus and species of marine mite, Xenohalacarus longirostris n. sp. was described from Chilcott Islet in the Coral Sea. One female, 1 male and 3 deutonymphs were extracted from coarse coral sand collected from the reef slope at Chilcott Islet on 14 September 1998. The reef slope was covered with algae, hydroids and rubble.
