Soils - irrigated land suitability assessment...
This dataset describes a high intensity soil survey (1:25 000) of 4147 ha on the left bank of the Burdekin River approximately 9km west of Clare. Soils are mapped into soils series. The results of the survey were used to assess the irrigation potential of the area for crops such as sugar-cane, row crops, rice and horticultural crops. Constraints to irrigation farm design and potential land degradation hazards were highlighted together with more detail on some of the high sodic soils of the area.
